The Heat Relief Alliance (THRA) is honoured to collaborate with the NGO Hamari Pahchan. This Delhi-based NGO - Hamari Pahchan - is dedicated to the upliftment of marginalised groups. The goal is simple: enabling individuals to establish their 'Pahchan' (identity) independently and with dignity. Founded in 2015, Hamari Pahchan has been working with a vast range of social causes. These include education, elderly support, animal protection, and environmental activities, as well as the elimination of hunger. Their multi-faceted strategy to community empowerment, whether through offering opportunities through education, facilitating skill building, or direct social interventions, provides a rich grounds for cooperative efforts.
Most importantly for THRA's objectives, Hamari Pahchan plays a strong and active role in serving poor and vulnerable communities through multiple direct aid and health education programs. Their on-ground experience in providing necessary resources and creating awareness among deprived communities, and their overall practice of medical support, is well-suited to the goals of THRA in protecting daily wage workers from the dire impacts of intense heat. Their knowledge of on-ground realities and efficient delivery systems makes them a precious ally in combating immediate health hazards created by increasing temperatures.
The synergy between Hamari Pahchan and THRA is deep. Hamari Pahchan's existing community presence, successful experience in the delivery of health-related awareness campaigns, and commitment towards community empowerment are crucial to providing a complementary interface to the work of THRA in offering heat relief equipment and sustainable protective structures. Together, we are better suited to address the pressing issues of heat extremes, so that more vulnerable workers in urban and peri-urban areas of North India can get vital protection and support for their well-being.
